It is practical and helpful and the author gives different situations in people who worry and how to avoid this.The book is an interesting read and I found it very helpful, however, what I do not like is that it is hard to navigate around in and it was written originally some time ago for a different time.Great book and very easy to read in my opinion.

Good Advice, Mostly Bad self-defense tactics By Chud This book has the right idea on dealing with Bullies on a mental level, dealing with bullies correctly without escalating into violence and fighting. Using verbal persuasion, getting School staff involved and parents involved. Also what to do if your child is the bully.However, Nearly all the self-defense tactics in this book, I would not use.There are a few really good ones, such as the mount defense and some of the ground fighting.For you parents...I would recommend this book as well as buying a Mixed Martial Arts book, such as "Mixed Martial Arts" by BJ Penn, "Wrestling for Fighting" Randy Couture, or "Judo for Mixed Martial Arts" by Karo Pariysan.

A helpful guide for anyone suffering depression By Hayley The author explains Chronic Depression in great detail, including the varying levels of depression and the symptoms that might present themselves. Depression is a mental illness that often goes undetected because the person suffering may not know they are in fact depressed or if they do know, they might worry about seeing a doctor for fear of what will happen to them.The author explains that by seeing a doctor as soon as possible, depression is often easier to treat and cure with less chance of re-occurrence in the future. There is also an excellent section of the types of medication which are available including the possible side effects - something that anyone seeking treatment will want to know. In addition, the book goes into detail about natural therapies too. Overall, this is a very good and helpful guide for someone suffering this condition.

At the time I didn't understand what the quote meant but now I do: it doesn't matter who the person is or how happy they appear, anyone can suffer from chronic depression. This book identifies all of that and brings to light some of the signs you can look for in your friends and family. You just never know the personal battles that some people endure and it's good to know that this book allows me to be that friend that they may need. Five stars!

I like how Anthony Wilkenson discussed about it in a factual and objective way. Many people could be living their day-to-day lives with dysthymia and are unaware that they need treatment. Chronic Depression by Anthony Wilkenson can impart an important message to depressive individuals who live unhappily and could be suicidal: "There is hope". Parloa's New Cook Book and Marketing Guide: Revised EditionWhen the author wrote the Appledore Cook Book, nine years ago, she had seen so many failures and so much consequent mortification and dissatisfaction as to determine her to give those minute directions which were so often wanting in cook-books, and without which success in preparing dishes was for many a person unattainable. It seemed then unwise to leave much to the cook's judgment; and experience in lecturing and in teaching in her school since that time has satisfied the author that what was given in her first literary work was what was needed. In this book an endeavor has been made to again supply what is desired: to have the directions and descriptions clear, complete and concise. Especially has this been the case in the chapter on Marketing. Much more of interest might have been written, but the hope which led to brevity was that the few pages devoted to remarks on that important household duty, and which contain about all that the average cook or housekeeper cares and needs to know, will be carefully read. 99 of 100 people found the following review helpful. Really Interesting! By F. Schwab I have a tendency to collect cookbooks, so I figured a free cookbook for my Kindle was at least worth a look. I had no idea how much I would enjoy this one. I have actually read it cover-to-cover, and though I've had to use the dictionary feature for several phrases in the book (for example, "Indian meal" seems to have been the term for "corn meal" during Miss Parloa's era), I have highlighted more than a few recipes to try from this book.Something to note is that the measurements are not quite as precise as you'd find nowadays (i.e., she calls for "butter the size of an egg" in several recipes), and there is never a temperature given for baking in the oven - rather, she uses terminology such as "cook in a moderate oven" (which I take to mean as somewhere around 350-375 degrees Fahrenheit) - so making some of these recipes will probably prove to be a bit of a challenge for even an experienced cook. But if you're looking for real, from-scratch recipes the way your great-great-grandmother would have done it, this is a really great place to start.

I love that it seems to be one of the very first cookbooks where they found it necessary to actually tell you how much of what to use and gave standardized measurements, of sorts.Excellent information about beef and fish and other ingredients and a wonderful bit of insight into history. Some of the recipes would be fun to try even now, which I didn't expect. The section on how to equip a kitchen was fun to read as well.If you're into old cookbooks or just like reading about food and they type of things they used in their kitchens back then, well worth the free download!

It does contain a lot of old language and I spent a good deal of time looking thinkgs up, but I found that to be kind of like a history lesson, and fun in my opinion. There are a lot of recipes in it that I look forward to giving a try and the info on selecting good quality ingredients is still usefull today I think. I really enjoyed it and you can't beat the price. Get it and you won't regret it!

It is a practical guide to living with and caring for a horse. The Equimed website is a wonderful source for all sorts of equine info and this book consolidates much of the info into an easy to read, easy to locate resource. I like having a book I can pick up, thumb through and read anywhere, any time. This is well written with exquisite artwork.Each chapter ends with "Five Take Aways" - sort of a summary of the most important facts of the chapter. Historical Dictionary of International Intelligence (Historical Dictionaries of Intelligence and Counterintelligence), by Nigel West

From Booklist This is the fourth in the publisher's Historical Dictionaries of Intelligence and Counterintelligence series and the second written by West. Similar in format to the other works in the series, it contains a list of acronyms, a chronology (1908-2005), and entries on agencies and agents, operations, jargon, and countries, among them Cuba, Libya, and Spain but not India or Pakistan. Entries range in length from a few short sentences to one to three pages. See and see also references are indicated in boldface type. An extensive bibliography at the back of the book illustrates the scholarship and research conducted by the author. It is not, however, as thorough and in-depth as the bibliographies in other titles in the series because it tries to cover too much territory.

There is some overlap with Historical Dictionary of British Intelligence (2005) and Historical Dictionary of United States Intelligence (2006). One would expect to see much longer entries for key countries such as China and the former Soviet Union. Perhaps it would have been better to divide up the series' international coverage by region rather than trying to cover so much in one volume. This is a useful work, though it's not quite up to the standard of the other titles in the series. Review The field of international intelligence is always changing, and many major events have occurred since this work first appeared in 2006. The second edition offers information and analysis of international intelligence up through 2014, according to its chronology, which starts in 1908 with the founding of the US Bureau of Investigation, the predecessor to the modern FBI. Military historian West, author of numerous works on intelligence and espionage (many issued under the publisher's Scarecrow imprint), provides a list of acronyms and abbreviations, a chronology of events, an introduction, the dictionary proper with A–Z entries, and an index. Of particular interest is the coverage of Edward Snowden, which provides a well-written summary of the man and the covert operations of the National Security Agency he revealed to the world. One bolded cross-reference points to an especially informative entry on ‘Government Communications Headquarters,’ the British cryptography group; see and see also references are plentiful throughout. Of greatest value to those researching espionage and intelligence are the extensive topically organized bibliography and official government and organizations websites. With the events of the past decade, this worthwhile updated volume is a necessary purchase for all libraries supporting intelligence collections. Summing Up: Recommended. All libraries/levels. About the Author Nigel West is the European Editor of the International Journal of Intelligence and Counter-Intelligence and teaches the history of postwar intelligence at the Centre for Counterintelligence and Security Studies. He is the author of many books, including the Historical Dictionary of British Intelligence (Scarecrow, 2005), Historical Dictionary of International Intelligence (Scarecrow, 2006), Historical Dictionary of Cold War Counterintelligence (Scarecrow, 2007), and Historical Dictionary of Sexspionage (Scarecrow, 2009). In October 2003 he was awarded the U.S. Association of Former Intelligence Officers' first Lifetime Literature Achievement Award. In 2012 he was appointed a judge of the St Ermin’s Intelligence Book of the Year award.

Broadly spanning from World War 2 to the present. The coverage is broad. Topics include D Day, a discard, and Lockerbie. Unsurprisingly, most of the topics are from the vantage of the British and Americans. None of the topics are covered in any depth. The book might be best used as a lead-in to a topic you are interested in.Amusingly, Iraq, Saddam Hussein and WMD are not listed as topics. Of these, only Hussein gets a brief mention, in another topic.

It must be pretty devastating considering the length some people go through to treat their condition. I've seen drugs for this ailment which have fatal side effects! That seems pretty extreme for a condition which is not fatal. This concise book is packed with information that can be used by anybody. Since one treatment won't help everybody, this book contains numerous suggestions that may aid relief.
