About the Author Jeffrey G. Marsocci was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Lincoln, Rhode Island, where he graduated from Mount Saint Charles Academy High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Hofstra University, and two years later earned his law degree from the same university. In 2004, he received a Certificate Degree in Non-Profit Management from Duke University, and has earned his Legal Master of Estate Preservation designation from the Abts Institute for Estate Preservation. Jeff also served as a member of the Legal Council for The Estate Planning Source, LLC, a nationally recognized estate preservation company formed by the protégés of the late Henry W. Abts III, trust guru and author of The Living Trust. Mr. Marsocci has led his own firm in Raleigh, North Carolina, since 1996, focusing on the areas of Trusts and Estate Planning with a concentration on helping his clients plan ahead to avoid problems rather than clean them up afterwards. He also frequently participates in national and regional programs to educate attorneys, financial advisors and accountants on estate planning issues. Jeff and his wife Kathleen work with the college-based service organization Circle K at North Carolina State University. Jeff and Kathy also each received the President’s Call to Service Award for performing more than 4,000 hours of service during their lifetimes.

It is a MUST to own book especially for people who have special need family/friends. Very simple to understand. Very informative. Very straight forward. It benefits all of us. What a shame that someone out there, some group of very strange people, have such a strong driving need to destroy mankind, to enslave it and humiliate it, and teach us all to believe that we have no value and we don't matter and we can't think for ourselves. I don't know what would possess these powerful people to so despise the world, but they do. The wars and genocides are all a part of some grotesque greater plan, and separating the human being from himself is the beginning and end of hope for our species. In case it needs to be said, we don't have to go along with anything that we know is evil or wrong or destructive. We do not ever have to choose to be devalued and disrespected by anyone who claims to be more important than ourselves. They can only be more important if we choose to believe they are and thus deny and subjugate ourselves. But why would we do that? We already know that no legitimate being would tell us to be less than we are. It's the overt demand that we stop existing. That's slow death from the inside out. On a vast scale, when all of society gets down on its knees to mere men who say they must, it is spiritual genocide. We are free to stop doing it anytime.

By Bill Anderson Length: 48 pages.This is primarily of interest to managers of companies working in or with people of India who are trying to improve their health and safety compliance.As such, this is a useful booklet to begin a conversation about Behavior Based Safety. For the asking price, it is $2.99 well-spent.As reviewers of my profile might understand, I worked a number of years in North and Southern Africa as a Health and Safety manager for construction. Accident and injury rates in those countries, as well as much of Asia is excessively high. BBS is, in my observation, the most useful tool to achieve major improvements quickly. One day I will publish results I observed in Egypt, but, for now, I will say only that Kaila is on the right track.I would, however, prefer to see case studies for before and after, as the information provided is too general and too, uh, scholarly, to be grasped by the reader. Especially, if the manager is not well-acquainted with health and safety. Otherwise, getting the observations done by fellow workers, as recommended by the author, instead of by safety personnel, is a laudable goal. Acheivable? Not so sure. But it is laudable.Unfortunately, this booklet has a number of formatting issues that need to be addressed, so I am rating it at four stars.

About the Author

Suzanne Richins, DHA, is known as an early adopter of technology and innovation. As a senior leader in healthcare, she was one of the first to look at using analytics to structure staffing schedules―based on patient arrival acuity to the emergency department for her master’s thesis. The methodology was adopted throughout Intermountain Healthcare (Salt Lake City, Utah) and various other well-known healthcare systems. While serving on the American Hospital Association board and the Joint Commission Advisory Committee, Dr. Richins conducted her dissertation on patient satisfaction prior to the adoption of these standards by both of these respected organizations. Her latest work is in using analytics to predict patient outcomes and improve quality. She also teaches DBA, DHA, and DNP students for various universities.Dr. Richins earned her nursing degree from Weber State University, her professional arts degree from St. Joseph’s College (North Wyndam, Maine), her MBA from Utah State University (Logan), and her doctorate in healthcare administration at the Medical University of South Carolina (Charleston). She earned her degrees while advancing from staff nurse to manager of the operating rooms, director of emergency and urgent care clinics, director of medical/surgical services, administrator of freestanding surgical centers, and chief operating officer.Due to her varied education and experience, Dr. Richins currently provides consultation and advice to clients about software for electronic medical records, revenue cycle management, and predictive and retrospective analytics. Kitchen Mojo by Paul Mercurio.Review by Jessica ReadI love everything about this cookbook.Appearance: the unusual size and shape, not quite a square and smaller than an A4. The cardboard cover and the strong glossy pages ensuring longevity. The photographs whether on the cover, back and front, or inside throughout the book, are just superb. A cookbook with good photos is essential for me.Text: I love the casual tone Paul uses throughout the book. It gives you the impression that he is standing by your side guiding you along the way. The layout is clear and the font of the text is well chosen, with bolding for the ingredients and colourful titles. Even the page numbers have cute icons either side of them. I love the little Notes, with added useful information, here and there.Recipes: for a start, I love the the way the book begins with recipes for one. It’s so hard to find a cookbook for one! The method for each recipe is clearly explained and I really like the way Paul refers to various members of his family along the way. It enhances the feeling even more of his closeness to the reader. All the recipes seem attainable even for the novice cook. They gives the impression of being both tasty and healthy. In fact just reading the recipes makes my mouth water.When I bought this book, it was my bedtime reading every night until I got through it! It’s not often that a cookbook can be read just for the pleasure of reading and savouring the photographs.All in all, I would say that this is a masterpiece. It could not be as seamlessly perfect without a huge amount of background work. The next installment chronicles two trips to Churchill, Manitoba, where the planet s largest population of polar bears congregate each October. It recounts the dramatic changes that have occurred in both the human and the polar bear communities in just the last decade and shows how the bears have become an Arctic version of the proverbial canary in the coalmine. Then the book shifts to the author s journey back to the United States on a German freighter with a rabidly anti-American captain. Woven into this account of life aboard a long haul ship are threads of the author s travels and anti-American encounters over a decade of living in Africa and Asia. The book concludes with reflections on trips to Afghanistan in 2004 and in 2012, describing the effects of war and conflict zone politics on women, education, refugees, and aid workers. Stouffer This work is an amazing assemblage of global adventures backed by extremely well-researched information to be enjoyed by anyone curious about what real adventuring and hands-on learning is all about. The variety of experiences this author has weathered are presented in a compelling and dramatic storytelling format, with enough supporting information to make the reader feel like an instant expert on the varied subjects covered. Whether you're an armchair explorer, or the real-deal about to set out on your own expedition to some crazy remote corner of the Planet, you will benefit from this read. When I finished the book, I sat wondering what this fearless writer is going to do next, because he is no doubt hooked on being a wide-eyed rolling stone who refuses to play it safe close to home and call it a life like most of us. If I sound a little jealous, it's because I am. Bravo Mr. Karber!

Karber hikes in By david holdridge In this day and age of virtual travel (and knowledge), Phil, rather, straps on a backpack and hikes in ---to some critical and hard to reach situations. No quick download here, no hollow punditry, Phil, instead, looks folks in the eye and tries to figure it out. His way is an assault on the facile and glib. If you want to to discover what ticks in those beating hearts overseas, listen to Phil. Talk to him about folks who live right on the edge and folks who presume to pull some strings.One more thing, through the pages of his new book, you will meet an attractive American. No strutting here, no infatuation with hegemon....rather a very grounded guy from Arkansas who defines his America as an obligation to rub elbows with those who are hurting and to smack down hypocrisy when he bumps into it ( see chapter 18)

By Ruth Andersen Heartland SpeakingAs Mr. Karber relates at the start of his book, he is no saint. He got a choice, as a teen-ager, from an Arkansas judge - the slammer or Nam and took the latter. He is surely a 'good ol' boy' (meant kindly) from a small town (Alpine) deep in lower Arkansas and has just such a colorful southern articulation as you read through his book. For me (I live in Denmark) it is unique and special to hear America's heartland speak on issues which are usually the reserve of the so-called scholars of the Coasts. His 'take', his affinity for working stiffs and the way he uses that as a bridge to find out what is really cooking abroad reflects the America I lived as a child, warts and all. Bestemt anbefalesvaerdig.

This actually had some fairly decent ideas in it, but things like the directions on something like building a solar oven without a single diagram just are not useful. If you use this you need to look somewhere else to figure out how.

Despain This little book functions well as an accessible introduction to the political philosophy of Badiou. Do not take serious the title or the picture of the gun on front. Both seem to be a poorly choosen marketing ploy.The book has three short articles, a political interview concerning the secession of Quebec from Canada, and a forward by Bruno Bosteels (the author of Badiou and Politics (Post-Contemporary Interventions)) well worth reading.The foundation (or philosophical ontology) of Badiou's work is mathematics as was Plato's. The aim of Badiou's philosophy however is unambiguously political. What draws me to Badiou is his commitment to defend Truth. The analogue to Truth in the political realm is the concept of Justice (p. 32).In other words, at bottom Badiou is a philosophical realist.Badiou underscores the importance of following Plato in distinguishing between correct and mistaken opinion on the one hand, and opinion and truth on the other (p. 28). This is important because according Badiou contemporary Western political regimes are based on the Platonic ignoble lie. Parliamentary democratic politics are driven not by Justice but by opinion polls; not by Truth but by _spin_. In other words, Justice and Truth are not the concern of contemporary Western politics, rather the aim of Western "democracies" are (economic) dominance and (political) power-control.Badiou maintains that the time is now ripe for political transformation expressed politically by mass protest (p. 20), demonstrations of resistance, movements of "occupy" (p. 21), and the rise of consciousness for new forms of a political dawn (p. 19). These are occurring because the Rousseauian "General Will" is not finding expression in Western political institutions and political praxes. Badiou "completely agree[s] with Slavoj Zizek when he argues that the question of the general will is to today the central question of politics" (p. 76). Instead of the General Will, we have the rule of oligarchic minority ruling over the majority of citizens for the benefit of the oligopolistic Western corporations, where the main role of the State is to prohibit and control (p. 22).Curiously Badiou argues that to address the oligarchic/oligopolistic hegemony we need not a new science (i.e. new conception of Truth), nor even necessarily a new philosophy (i.e. new conception of Justice), but a "new fiction" (i.e. a new conception of possible different realities) (pp. 77 - 80). It is the conceptions of a new reality, via fiction, that we can gain courage for political transformations toward the augmentation of justice. Indeed for Badiou the "conditions" of philosophy are meditations of circumstances and "events" in science and politics to be sure, but also in _art_ and _love_ (pp. 3 - 4) (see for example In Praise of Love).Badiou capture his politics well in a sentence from a 2008 article, where he maintains politics can be understood as "collective action, organized by certain principles, that aims to unfold the consequences of a new possibility which is currently repressed by the dominant order." My translation of this is that when the "General Will" is suppressed by the dominant order, injustice is the likely political result (e.g. unemployment, inequality, etc.) and masses of people will begin to grope for alternatives, drawing from various sources of fiction, theology, and philosophy.In the second essay of the book, Badiou analyzes the symbol of the "Solider" as the heroic figure of the contemporary era. He argues the Solider is an impoverished heroic figure. It is more of a hangover from the Warrior of the past. But whereas the Warrior was motived by Justice and Truth, the Solider finds motivation in following `orders' in spite of the degree of truth or falsehood and the degree of justice or injustice. The good solider is always to follow orders of the superiors. If the orders from the oligarchic/oligopolistic superiors are Just and Truthful, the solider is truly a Heroic figure. "But what happens if war, in our days, has become one giant obscure slaughter?" (p. 58). Then our soliders become vehicles of mere violence, injustice, and philosophical confusion.Philosophy then is defined by Badiou as a "logical revolt" (p. 11) against political dominance of injustice and falsehoods. The "logical revolt" is turned into action by protests of the collective agent, typically the Youth (p. 20). The youth find their inspiration for protest and resistance in political dictums of Rousseau and Mao. Namely, when there is a lack of Justice and a lack of Truth, "It is just to revolt."However there is a paradoxical relationship between democracy, politics and philosophy (p. 24). Democracy is a necessary condition for philosophy, but the political visions of philosophy are often ill-suited for democracy. This is because the opinions of the masses can often be of the mistaken kind. Badiou maintains that it is "truth" and "justice" that links and mediates democracy, politics, and philosophy.Much like mathematics we choose initial "axioms." In mathematics if those axioms generate truth we keep them, if they generate falsehoods and/or contradictions we amend them. Political axioms should generate justice, if they generate injustice and/or social contradiction we should amend them (p. 33). The problem is that the "State has no other major task except to prohibit, by all possible means, including violent ones" (p. 22). Amendments to unjust political economic power-relations are impeded, whereby "It is just to revolt."

I’m one of those people that think about healthy food and gets depressed, so I set myself a challenge to try at least one of these each day for a while. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it became to have healthy food every day as a lot of the ingredients I would have had in my house anyway but would never think of combining them. Have to say, I’ve felt great since starting the whole regime and I will continue to do so. I can’t wait to try all of the juices. I have my two favourites so far ‘Broccoli Orange Fusion and ‘Sunrise Sunset’

Having just started my diet, a friend suggested I detox my system and this book fits perfectly for that. The book is well written and formatted with tons of great information.
