By Karen arruda The book title "My Mother My Daughter A Memoir" written by Marita Malone offers readers and inside perspective of the emotional and psychological journey of an adoptive child. The author has a gift for making the reader feel her expressions while she shares her compelling life stories. As an adoptive parent we often forget the child's loss and only focus on the gain. Her story gave me insight to my adoptive son's feelings and his struggle through a life of continued changing adjustments. I would recommend this book for every pre-adoptive and adoptive placement, not only for an intriguing read; but also for a guide of understanding.

How do you get there?This is a book for all to read, particularlythose transplanted to a new familythose who feel like black sheepthose who feel the need to "over achieve"those who seek happiness and self-acceptance.Malone's book of self determination is defined in its reading. She teaches herself to become whom she wants to be.This book is compelling in the honesty of its author, who writes of her trials as a child, an adolescent, and an adult.Malone is a remarkable woman. Reread chapter 1 after you finish the book.

A book you can't put down as you follow her through her life looking for some happy times in her life By cw Book was not light reading, but it is compelling, we have several children who are adopted in our family and it made me remember to hug them more often and show them how much they mean to all of us in our family. A book you can't put down as you follow her through her life looking for some happy times in her life. Author writing style is good. I was shocked to hear her story, she is a strong lady.
