About the Author Laura Cochran holds dual degrees in professional cooking and baking and has worked in many facets of the food service industry.  Laura enjoys teaching others how to cook, as well as spending time in the kitchen creating new dishes, and customizing menu selections for her customers.  Prior to her formal training, Laura taught herself how to cook as a teenager by studying cookbooks and burning lots of pots (but never a cake.)  She is the chef and owner of Whisk Culinary Services, based in York, Pennsylvania. Brooks I was given the opportunity to test out some of these recipes before publishing and I can attest that they are easy enough to prepare for the novice chef, but results in dishes that are complex enough to convince your friends you're a foodie.Amalie and Laura are lifelong friends and that chemistry shines through in the story that accompanies the recipes. The narrative is fun and adds an interesting layer (cake, get it?) that sets this apart from your typical cookbook.I hope there's a follow-up. I'd love to see these ladies go on a trip together (Paris? Write it off!) and see where that inspiration takes them.
