About the Author Faith Scott is the pseudonym of an English woman who suffered appalling abuse within her family and is now telling the full truth of her shocking story. Lynne Barrett-Lee is a successful novelist and non-fiction features writer for magazines including Woman, Woman's Own, Best, Take a Break and Good Housekeeping. She has been published in numerous languages and works as a part-time writing tutor.

By Minnow3 This is an amazing book, from the minute I picked it up I could not stop reading I was so hooked that I even read as I walked home under the street lights.It is a vivid, gruesome and unnecessary sequence of events that took place but told in such a beautiful way, you can really see little faith and how she felt.It is one of only a few books that I have ever read that you feel like you could read forever and that you are at a loss when you have finshed it. Im now reading it for a second time.

By Jules The neglect, abuse and unkindness of this story were hard to read about. Ultimately, though, the story became one of compassion and love. This didn't come from those who inflicted the abuse and neglect. It is there in how Faith Scott relates to herself, both as a child and a woman. She shows how it is possible to acknowledge the awful legacy of a childhood full of mistreatment, how it affected her adult behaviour and the choices she made, but still relate to herself with the kindness, care and love that should have been offered by others. It is an inspirational story.

The story of Faith’s childhood and later life has been told with such honesty and courage, it was a privilege to read. It describes the cruelty and neglect Faith endured and how this mistreatment impacted on her subsequent relationships and her view of herself. This was an insightful and emotionally challenging read, however what is clear is how Faith’s resilience ensured her survival.
