By cc2015 I'm always looking for different ways to be healthy and after reading this book, I think the Ayurvedic Detox is it! Ayurveda is considered all natural, and Ayurvedic Detox is supposed to remove all toxins in the body. I love how the author gave us some background information on Ayurveda and each phase of the detox. The author made the process very simple and easy to follow, and the recipes featured in this book tastes delicious and just makes the process even smoother. For anyone looking for ways to improve their lifestyle, this is a great book to check out!

The Ayurveda detox is the cleansing of the body by removal of toxins.I am 51 years old and I always try a variety of ideas/programs. I do not follow anything for long periods because I like to change things up. I am always looking for something new to surprise my body, mind and soul. I lift weights at home and work out to a variety of exercise dvds and exercise books.What an interesting read! Monica Ramirez has a way of catching the readers attention. I am very interested in following this program after the holidays. We have a couple boys in college who are coming home for the holidays with friends and they all look forward to what mom cooks, so I will wait till after the holidays to give this program a try.Organic food is a plus with this program and she also mentions a beverage I am not familiar with called Lassi. Lassi (pronounced "LAH-see") is fresh yogurt blended with room-temp water. She also mentions warm lemon water which is something I drink often, first thing in the morning upon waking before I do anything else, and really does flush you out.I found this next passage interesting:" Do not try to undergo this procedure if you are unwell, recently recovered from an illness, or if you are not in a good state of mind. It will be nothing more than a waste of time. You can always wait for another year."I've not seen a book/program say this before. I think it's wonderful that she points this out and reminds you to wait another year or so if you are and/or are experiencing any of this.The author also mentions There is no age factor involved. But the younger you are, the faster the process will occur. I've never seen anyone point this out before. Good for her, very honest and true!I enjoyed and appreciated the background history and each phase of the detox. My husband and I enjoy reading a variety of life styles, religions, regions, etc so this was very interesting and informative. We are all for the spiritual identity gain.From the book: "Ayurveda, there is no specific diet, and every person can follow the one that suits him best."There is a very informative section on why we should detox. There is a 3-5 day pre cleaning phase. The author recommends you start slowly and work your way up gradually when starting a detox.This will take me some time to plan and prepare because I'm noticing some ingredients in the recipes that are not familiar and I'll have to figure out where I can find these items - if that means a trip to the city - Whole Foods - (1 hour away) then I'll prepare a list in order to try and make this happen as close to the recipes as possible. For instance: yellow split mung dah or mung beans,The Roasted Coconut Sesame Oatmeal picture looks delicious! I am definitely going to try this recipe. The rice with carrots and zucchini looks good - I'm interested in trying that. The author also provides links to websites with info and recipes. I made the Holiday Spice Blend - I'll be trying that in a few soups and egg dishes. I appreciate the images included with some of the info.We agree with the section on massage - we practice this daily and enjoy the benefits that this relaxing habit instills in the body. It was nice to read this section and the benefits to each part of the body.I am practicing the Skull Shining Breath exercise - it takes some practice but I'm trying.A normal Ayurvedic detox program takes 15 days of preparation. But the actual procedure takes 45 days. Overall, this program will take about 60 days to complete.The author follows her own advice and gives feedback about her journey. She also has a blog which is included in some of the websites. I feel like this is a woman who went on a journey and discovered a detox from an Eastern culture that worked for her.She became so passionate that she wanted to share with others what she was learning in hopes of helping someone else discover a new passion, a new interest, a new life.There is a preview of some parts of this book and you'll find the history of Vedic Living very interesting. I enjoyed the info on The Three Doshas of Ayurvedic.For more info on the author - the last page of this book gives a website to learn more about the author.

Yet, for me it was always a complicated ancient science that required more attention than I was willing to give for competent understanding. I was hoping that THE SECRETS OF AYURVEDIC DETOX would help do this for me. Unfortunately, the author’s valuable words of wisdom are sown amongst seeds of confusion.Confusion comes from the author’s writing style. Jumping from one subject to another, she has a distracting habit of mingling cautions within her instructions. A reader interested in the cleansing might want to read with pen and paper in hand to jot down and keep track of steps in the process separate from the other information.Positive points through the book include origins of some of the practices and insights of possible pitfalls known only by one who has followed this detox process from beginning to end. There are excellent vegetarian recipes and wonderful descriptions of Ayurvedic massage and other techniques that assist the detox process. The information merits 5 stars but the delivery only 3 stars. As a doctor of natural healing, familiar with many detoxification programs, I recognize Ms. Ramirez’s sincerity and how beneficial the process might be. Readers should be prepared to sort through the information to find the step by step.
