In today’s healthcare maelstrom, therapists are often tossed aside – to the detriment of the patient, the profession and society’s health. Unfortunately, doing therapy as usual does not often result in optimal outcomes or bottom line results for the patient or therapist. Therapists are struggling to carve out a fulfilling, profitable niche, an event that has left many discouraged and even disheartened. In “The Cash Therapy Practice” Paul Potter, PT, looks at the private practice model and turns it on its head. Most therapists follow the cash-based model not for the money, but for patient connection, something that is decidedly lacking in modern healthcare. Potter diligently outlines in this manifesto how every therapist can benefit from the advantages of a cash-based practice. It is hard but not impossible to create a dream practice in today’s healthcare system – this manifesto will show you why and how. Therapists will learn: - How the shift in economics and the Internet has provided a direct connection with potential clients. - How to gain an edge marketing directly through social media to your ideal clients. - How a cash based practice will hone and perfect your skills. - How to take smart, professional risks. - Decide if private practice, away from the large corporations or insurance middlemen, is best for you and your patients. - Learn what kind of loss, if any, is acceptable in realizing your dream. - Learn how to place a value on your service. - Learn how to market directly to your ideal clients. - Develop your team - And learn how, above all, being yourself should be your focus. Enjoy a front seat ride into a new way of thinking, and a new way of doing business in the new Healthcare Economy.

By ZZ DPT With over 30 years’ experience as a clinician, this author is very well qualified to discuss the ins and outs of the health care system. This initial piece makes valid insights into changes within the medical profession as well as offer practical observations why change is coming. As I read, I was motivated to hear more about why private practices may gain more footing in the future and why this may be a viable option for the ambitious, self-starting clinician.Concise, relevant, and easy to read, this manifesto provides 10 steps to getting started with your cash therapy practice which I found very helpful as a starting point. A couple critical tips I believe are: Develop Your Team, and Discuss With Like Minded People. With regards to those tips, I must also highly recommend reading his blog.I have communicated with the author on several occasions, and find that he is truly passionate about sharing his experience and research to help therapists realize their goals.RECOMMENDATION: Take a lunch break or two and read this, it will be worth your time.
