In 1980 an obscure internal U.S. Army concept paper, “From PSYOP to MindWar”, accidentally became public. Though only a brief, theoretical speculation, it exploded into the focus of alarmist rumors and debates for the next three decades. Is the government involved in invasion of the mind beyond the blundering, haphazard legacy of the infamous MKULTRA experiments? Even more unsettling, do such efforts extend beyond conventional scientific research to dark and arcane arts whose very existence is the stuff of legend?
The answers are here, in this book by one of that 1980 paper’s co-authors, Lt. Colonel Michael Aquino. Originally intended for the eyes of government policymakers alone, it is now openly available. Ironically MindWar is unclassified only because a level high enough to embrace it has never been anticipated or even conceptualized. What it is capable of setting in motion is simply beyond all previous human interactive experience.
For millennia violent warfare has been the scourge of humanity, and all attempts to end it through negotiated or imposed peace have brought only temporary respite. On the premise that war is endemic to the human disposition, MindWar proposes to eliminate its killing and destruction by replacing it with a far more powerful kind of war - one which focuses on the human mind both individually and collectively. The persons and property of people are removed as targets, replaced by the divisive situations and problems originating in their consciousness. These are then controlled, adjusted, and reformed to produce a harmonious and cooperative total environment.
The price for this solution is that, for the first time in practical history, the actual machinery of human thought is accessed, by the methodical application of science, psychology, and esoteric arts of antiquity. MindWar assumes, as did the ancients, that the ultimate aspiration of mankind is to the Good. But, like the Manhattan Project which rashly opened an earlier genie's bottle, MindWar could be misused with even more ominous consequences. Devised to save humanity, it could also supersede it. Hence this genie must be examined and evaluated while its bottle is still sealed.
This book extrapolation and evolution of the original 1980 concept is not merely theoretical. It proposes "laboratory" implementation through the structural redesign of the U.S. Army’s three “Special Operations” branches: Psychological Operations, Special Forces, and Civil Affairs. A multiphase sequence of their interaction in a MindWar campaign is outlined, with the international crisis resolution procedures of the United States modified to facilitate it. In a forthcoming second volume, the structures and programs to implement this will be discussed in detail.
Not merely a "military book", MindWar extends its application to human political and social interaction generally, identifying and refining what were previously only vague or unknown mental processes into a new science of "thought architecture". It opens the door to a standard of rationality and precision in human affairs in which the experience and exercise of thought are finally, fully mature.

MindWar, by Michael Aquinoi About the Author During his 28-year Army career, Michael Aquino was qualified in Psychological Operations, Special Forces, Civil Affairs, Defense Attaché, Foreign Area Officer, and both Strategic and Space Intelligence, resulting in his primary career designation as one of the Army’s extremely rare Politico-Military Affairs Officers. During the Vietnam War he served in Special Operations with both Army and Air Force PSYOP and Civil Operations & Revolutionary Development Support (CORDS). He is a graduate of the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center at Fort Bragg, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at Fort McNair, the Intelligence School at Fort Huachuca, the Armor School at Fort Knox, the Airborne School at Fort Benning, the Defense Intelligence College at Anacostia, the Command & General Staff College and the Army Space Institute at Fort Leavenworth, and the Department of State Foreign Service Institute in Washington, D.C. After receiving the B.A., M.A., & Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, he taught International Relations, Political Philosophy, and American Foreign Policy as an Adjunct Professor at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He also holds the M.P.A. in National Resource Management from the George Washington University. In 1975 he was initiated to the Priesthood of the ancient Egyptian god Set, and served as High Priest of his Temple until passing on that office in 1996, remaining thereafter active in the Priesthood. He thus brings to bear upon the mystery of human consciousness many decades of investigation and experience in the most obscure and exclusive esoteric arts and sciences. _MindWar_, his first openly-published book, thus harmoniously integrates the physical and the metaphysical into a coherent and complete whole, as this discipline not only implies but indeed requires.

However, he's also one of those rare individuals who could survive even the most vile accusations levelled against him because he is able to prove almost everything he is saying. That understanding of Aquino took me several years to come to - like many, I was completely biased against Aquino. Still, for those seeking knowledge and resolution for the problems that face us today, we must look even into the darkest corners. The dark rock I decided to turn over was Aquino's MindWar.As a former member of the US Military, including the same branch Dr. Aquino served in as well - I am familiar with the document's formatting and organizational structure. Primarily set up as an Field Manual (FM), this document should be classified due to the content. However, it isn't, so one can buy it readily here. For starters, the basic assumption is that warfare is endemic to the human condition. Aquino's desire is to shift basic national human conflict resolution approaches from the field of physical warfare (PW) to MindWar (MW). Much of the initial stage of discussion centers around his reasoning for this shift and why the US Army should adopt this as the primary method for psychological operations. More radically, he argues that PsyOp (now lamely called MISO), should become the dominate branch in special warfare and the preemptive strike force for the entire Army. Many will focus on the Electrical Magnetic Field (EMF)/Brain Wave (BW) conditioning sections of the document - while conspiratorially juicy, that focus would be better applied to seeing the larger picture. The truly observant will notice that the BW charting Aquino uses is the Russian data, and not the American garbage gathered by such outfits as McKenna's Esalen. He doesn't shy away from mentioning Cameron or MKUltra either - something that one can admire since, hey, what's a PsyWar/MindWar document without touching on these subjects. If you are truly observant, Aquino reveals his own information on the Kennedy Assassination, Special Forces history and US clandestine operations. However, if you looking for a Springmeier level Illuminati Mind Control programming manual, then this book isn't for you. It will be a dry read in this regard. For me, his recognition of NLP as a valid system within military application, told me that this document wasn't really 'disinformation' (though bear in mind that is always possible). Also, when he pokes fun at remote viewing and "Men Who Stare At Goats" - this told me, while far out in many regards, MindWar is a serious document that Aquino put his heart and mind into.Basically, he lays out the framework for a new military branch and a system of conflict resolution that desires to stem bloodshed and loss of property. The basis of this logic is the size of the planet and our limited resources dictates that war can be waged 'better'. Again, the shift is from the battlefield of land to one of the mind.Aquino doesn't shy away from politically incorrect sources when stating his case, making a point and outlining his methodology. One will notice quotes from Goebbels, Hitler and Plato - all figures which immediately erect red flags in the overly sensitive person. (When he quotes from the UN Charter, some will blow fuses - but read through and put that too back into the context of why he is using it.) However, if one bears through their preprogrammed societal prejudices, then they hit pay dirt. Instead of limiting his field of knowledge, Aquino has expanded his pool of information to include people society all too quickly rejects. His wisdom for doing this becomes apparent when you put the complete picture together and realize it perfectly supports the main 'thesis' of MindWar.If you wanted a quick condensation of Western Political Theory and Federalist Thought - or basically how we got here - then ironically, this book is also for you.In summary, for me, what I see is a program for rebuilding the United States after a large fall - and doing so without blood shed. This part won't become apparent to you until you read through the manual. Also, he gives, as example for a MindWar exercise, the main conflict model facing U.S., Canada, Scandinavia and Great Britain. This deeply impressed me because it means Aquino is highly aware of the high stakes game currently facing Western Civilization, European and European inspired nations like the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. If anything, it's a plan that these nations can use to dig themselves out of the ditch they put themselves into ...The information in the manual is incredible ... however, the print quality is four star, so four stars.

As a researcher of force and form, I found Aquino's insights from extensive and direct experience into the myriad nature of forms and forces, (many invisible, such as electromagnetism, neuroscience, fields and more) to offer a practical, philosophical and do-able scenario with genuine power to change the nature of war;- and I feel, prophetically predicts a time to come well beyond his lifetime when such a battlefield is in fact, the norm. With the new vistas opened by social neuroscience, deeper understanding of how various forces from the subconscious or invisible realms impact humans without their knowledge; Michael paints a highly illustrative and plausible re-imagining of Warfare as we know it highlighting emerging dangerous realms of power and influence that can be used against us as techniques to control us and whole populaces. But MindWar is also unique, speaking through vast experience and specialist knowledge, Aquino's brilliant solution is not to try to do away with War, which he argues convincingly to be a ghost that will always haunt us, but to change how it is waged with an ethical altruism that seeks something far grander, and offers a legacy of compassion and kindness with a lifetime of gravity for which he is reknowned to weight every word., and more than that, to extend a map for how those of us who have not lost hope, can achieve it. Ideally placed with the armed forces and respected the world over for his role within it and other numerous fields, MindWar is one of those rare books that could very well have enough influence to start a ball rolling of immense importance.MindWar clearly emanates from his intimate knowledge of the armed forces, and although he speaks directly to the same armed forces - perhaps inadvertently revealing a tableau of politico-military thought frames which are as interesting as they are frightening to witness the detachment necessary for war - Aquino writes with a concise clarity that flows succinctly and skillfully from one passage to the next relating the grand scheme and methodology of MindWar.Personally, reading this book has been of great benefit in regard to providing insight into the future sciences developing tendrils across various mindscapes in greater detail than I have been able to find elsewhere, and with more than a modicum of trust in the source. MindWar showcases a bevy of technologies that have actively been developed in secret, and the extent of their depth, to exploit the common man that we should be aware have and are being devised to control us, as well as ominous revelation as hints, of those methodologies used against the common man in the past. The frank, disarming manner in which Aquino details this hidden world goes beyond boasting of the bravado of the United States divisions in which he served, to a darker place where one can feel his imminent and personal concern for the human race as a result of all he has seen, and understand thusly, the importance of a book like MindWar.My only negative experience with MindWar is that it was not longer and did not go even deeper into divulging the vast knowledge the author surely has of prescient forms and forces that are and will some day play a huge part in what it means to be human. An inspiring, positive, and informative read on all fronts. I am indebted to the author for the expansions his work has offered into my own. Hollow of the Temple of THEM. 2013.

Many wise heads have suggested that we give up war, but humans remain (sadly) quite human. The US government has spent millions in the noble cause of ending slaughter – but produced such goofy boondoggles as “the men who stare at goats.” Colonel Aquino has suggested a pragmatic, yet humanely enlightened, alternative. Armed on one hand with real knowledge of human psychology and physiology – we know how to steer human beings. Armed on the other hand with philosophical principles grounded in Plato and Jefferson -- we know how to help humans think. The approach in Mind War will seem surprising to some (what ELF waves work?) and idealistic to others (Plato says “No man seeks evil.” what does that mean?); yet it is a tour de force of reason and wonder. The book is a great blend of Enlightenment thinking and weird (but quite real) science. If you want us to stop slaughtering humans, if you want us to really encourage democracy and reason, or if you would just like us to have far-out weaponry – you should a copy of this book for your congressman and for every member of the Joint Chief of Staff. Aquino is a worthy successor to Paul Linebarger. This book is what psychological warfare should seek to be. I’ve read perhaps ten times in various clandestine versions, and I am very happy it now freely available.
