Review Introvert Revolution is an empowerment tool. By dissecting introversion into multiple theoretical and biological perspectives, Andy Johnson has created an excellent vehicle to persuade the notoriously hard-to-convince introverts that embracing introversion opens a treasure trove of signature strengths just waiting to be embraced and developed. It is an intellectually and experientially accessible book, providing a combination of rationale, examples and exercises to explore and overcome unconsciously internalized beliefs that can hold us back, like shame and doubt. The exercises are not only good opportunities to value individual differences but they enhance skills of mindfulness and gratitude that reap positive benefits on their own accord. --Pamela Rutledge, Ph.D., MBA, Director Media Psychology Research Center, Faculty Fielding Graduate University"This well researched and compelling read makes the case for introverted leadership in a unique way. Author Andrew Johnson draws upon his own early career struggles blended with case studies and hard science to help introverts draw upon their authentic yin selves. He lays out a map for introverts to take courageous and practical steps to ramp up their leadership game." --Jennifer Kahnweiler, PhD, Author of "The Genius of Opposites""Introvert Revolution is a clarion call to open the eyes and ears of introverts and extroverts alike. In this bias busting book, Andy Johnson contends, one of the biggest challenges lies in reframing perceived weaknesses as strengths and allowing ourselves to reject culturally imposed standards of leadership. Introverts contribute something important to the world as leaders, as history attests. Johnson shares how they can do so authentically, powerfully and even quietly amid our noisy world." --Nancy Ancowitz, Author of "Self Promotion for Introverts"

About the Author Andy Johnson is uniquely qualified not only to write this book but to help introverted leaders on this sometimes arduous journey to self acceptance. Andy is an introvert, a leader, an executive coach and a licensed counselor who blends all four of these dimensions in his writing and individual work with his clients. He's been married to his more extroverted wife for over twenty-seven years. He contributes regularly to his blog, Revolutionary Thoughts, on introvertrevolution.com and conducts two-day intensives for introverted leaders called Yin Leader Workshop. By Gordon For decades the prevailing models of leadership have placed a premium on what would be identified as Extroverted behavior--charisma, likeability, media appeal, promotional skills, and salesmanship. In "Introvert Revolution" Andy Johnson validates the leadership potential and contribution of introverts and recommends a model that balances the extrovert yang with the introvert ying. He helps us understand how to tap what is perhaps the most underutilized talent pool in our organizations-- the introverts. With Johnson's help, Introverts can stop "faking it until they make it" and find ways to make a difference without having to be different.

By Greg Brown In his new book “Introvert Revolution” my friend and author Andy Johnson steps into the light of self- actualization to let the world know that he is angry and is not going to take it anymore. Worn out by a lifetime of being an introvert leader in an extroverted jungle, Andy masterfully weaves his way thru the minefield of cultural bias and societal and workplace injustice routinely experienced by “quiet” leaders. His thoughtful consideration of extensive research culminates in the compelling conclusion that the world, particularly the business community, are not getting it right on this one.If you are one of those who have experienced the repressive force of “extro-world” then this book is for you. If you are a hard-wired extrovert then this book will provide you with an invaluable tool for living in community with your introverted family, friends and co-workers.At the end of the day he argues that all any of us want is to be who we are. All of us want to be accepted and valued for what we contribute. As Johnson puts it--“Happiness is found in fulfilling the ultimate purpose for which we exist, our why.” He puts the world on notice that an introvert who succeeds in that makes a great leader.

Well researched, thought provoking, enjoyable read By Hannah This is genuinely the most informative, helpful, and enjoyable book on introversion I've read. Andy presents facts, data, and scientific information interspersed with historical and cultural stories, as well as personal interviews and anecdotes in this well-rounded book. Susan Cain's "Quiet" was an excellent "breakout" book on introversion, but Andy takes it to a new level in his highly thought out and well researched "Introvert Revolution." As an introvert, I learned more about temperament and its effect on work, relationships, etc. and how to understand myself and other introverts better. Additionally, Andy provides insight into tackling challenges and practical ways to thrive in the "extrovert ideal" world. I'd highly recommend this book to introverts and extroverts alike.
